Story
Founding Story
When I was 14, I dreamed of "living abroad and starting a family." At 29, that dream came true, and I began my dream life in Europe. However, I struggled to find the next life goal, feeling a sense of emptiness. Then, an unusual dream urged me to "save the Earth." Seeing news about African children suffering from hunger, I felt a deep calling within me.
I received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2010. The night before my surgery, I pondered what I might regret if my life were at risk. The realization hit me that my busy work-life prevented me from contributing to Africa. Following a successful surgery, I retired and started volunteering in Africa.
In 2011, I conducted lectures on climate change and renewable energy for 800 middle and high school students in Cameroon. Then, from 2018 to 2020, I served as a JICA Senior Volunteer in Zambia and conceptualized the Zambia Center of Excellence, a cornerstone of the Lemu Harmony initiative.
The name "Lemu Harmony" embodies the love and peace from the ancient Lemurian era.
We aim to impart relevant skills and knowledge for the future, along with the enduring love for humanity, to African children through social education.

With over 25 years of residence in Europe, our CEO, Mikako Le Lay, brings a wealth of international experience to Lemu Harmony. During her 12-year tenure at Toyota Motor Europe, she was involved in research and development, focusing on hydrogen fuel cell and eMobility technologies, and actively participated in vehicle development projects. These experiences provided her with deep insights into environmentally friendly advanced technologies, the importance of quality, and responsible project management.
During her time at the non-profit organization CSR Europe, she spearheaded projects in collaboration with European companies and organizations dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Upon returning to Japan in 2013, Mikako worked as a researcher at EY Research Institute, where she conducted research and writing related to the sharing economy. She also contributed to industry-academia collaboration projects at the University of Tsukuba. Her dedication to volunteer work in Africa further underscores her commitment to social betterment.
Mikako holds a Doctor of Engineering degree from the Graduate School of Yokohama National University, earned in 1988.
